LA Dept of Transportation Lights

Titled Motordom, this four-story light installation, was created by artist Keith Sonnier in 2004. Commissioned by Caltrans, this is one of the largest works of public art in Los Angeles. The argon and neon tubes generate alternating red and blue lights which flash in horizontal stripes around the building. The visual effects can be seen from the outside as well. As with all lights, Motordom is best viewed at night. (Submitted by Brenda Rios)
