Description:
The connection between Lawrence Welk and Escondido is a restaurant/club he owned which can be seen in his titular show. Outside the museum, the city pays homage to this TV legend with a bronze life-size statue. Dubbed "Champagne Music Maker," Welk hosted his show for an astounding 30 years - from 1951 to 1982. He died in 1992 at the age of 89 in Santa Monica.
