Description:
A residential community for active seniors is famous for its giant metal globe - one of the nation's largest. Its history goes back to the 1960s when Ross Cortese conceived the idea to commission this 32-foot-diameter, 14-ton rotating sphere. Many think it was modeled on the much larger one that was unveiled at the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair, although Cortese's version was completed months before.
