Levitated Mass

This 21.5-foot-tall boulder is mounted on walls lining a trench. The granite monolith weighs 340 tons and its placement did not come cheaply. Along with the giant rock there is a video showing how it was quarried and brought to its new home at the museum. The work of static art by Michael Heizer was funded through private donations.
