Light Gate

An elegantly simplistic sculpture that resembles either a giant keyhole or a portal to another dimension this is a lock that only the sun can open. Mags Harries and Lajos Héder created this 15-foot glass disc which was unveiled in 2015. To fully appreciate this work of art one must plan to visit on January 27 or November 14. On these two days, the sun beams straight through the hole almost like a bright orange pupil. Still, the glass disc lights up in rainbows of color any day of the year that the sun is shining. Thankfully, in SoCal sunny days are the norm.
