Description:

Located in Steamer Lane, a popular surfing spot, this lighthouse has a surfing museum inside. It's actually the first surfing museum in California. Lighthouse Point is also known as Point Santa Cruz, the northern boundary of Monterey Bay. There is plenty of wildlife living or visiting these parts; monarch butterflies are known to winter here and whales pass through during their migration. Many interesting birds such as the rare black swift have been spotted here too. It's also a great beach to bring dogs! The beach is open from sunrise to sunset but call 831.420.5270 for the museum's current operating hours.
