Description:

Lime Point Lighthouse was built in 1883 long before Golden Gate Bridge stretched across the strait. Located at the southern end of the Marin Headlands it sits right under the bridge. It is often seen in photographs of the Golden Gate. The lighthouse is still active and is often closed to the public. To see it from a good vantage point take Highway 101 north across the Golden Gate Bridge. Get off at the first exit just across the bridge. This will be at the scenic overlook area. Park your car and walk towards the retaining wall.
