Description:

The Locke Historic District in Walnut Grove, California is the only remaining rural Chinatown in the United States. Founded in 1915 by Chinese immigrants after a fire destroyed the nearby Chinatown, it features traditional Chinese architecture mixed with early 20th-century American styles. The district's narrow wooden buildings and storefronts reflect its history as a lively center for the Chinese community involved in agriculture and trade.
