Holy Mary Statue

A shrine of Mary is lovingly cared for by Buddhist monks. What is the story behind this? Once inhabited by nuns the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas purchased the property. The nuns asked that the shrine of Mary be kept intact and the monks agreed. They said that Mary is very similar to Guanyin who is feminized in Buddhism as a symbol of compassion. Check the website because the monastery is open to the public on certain days but on Sundays you can attend services between 8 and 2.
