Description:
This spot was named after a surfer's beloved dog who enjoyed swimming along while his companion rode the waves. It is a popular surfing area with waves reported to be as high as 35 feet. Every year there is a surfing contest held with dates announced as soon as weather and good surf conditions are known. If you're not a surfer, you can always relax and watch the pros do it. Search the tide pools for marine life, walk with your dog on the cliffs above, or hike around nearby Pillar Point. The parking lot is located on West Point Avenue which can be found by turning onto Capistrano Road from Highway 1 and then making a left on Harvard Avenue.
