Mission Basilica San Buenaventura

It was founded by Father Juniper Serra in 1782 as a Spanish Mission. The church and gardens are the only original remnants of the old mission. Earthquakes which were accompanied by giant record-sized tidal waves were responsible for much of the destruction. More recently, a museum displaying Chumash history and mission artifacts was installed. If you're looking for peace and tranquility, this is the place to go!
