Montery Canning Company

Monterey Canning Company based in Pacific Grove is now a shopping mall. Monterey Canning Co. has been operating since 1918 and is now a magnet to tourists who can tour and observe its building practices. A.M. Allan founded this expansive complex in 1917. Unique among the Cannery Row factories, the Monterey Canning Company's main structures included faux street-front façades. This style reflected a late entry in the contemporary Mission Revival movement. The company finally shut down in the 1950s due to low fish yields.
