Description:

Perched high above Avalon Bay, Mt. Ada was built between 1919 and 1921 as the summer home of chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. and his wife Ada, for whom the hilltop estate is named. The grand Georgian-style mansion reflected Wrigley’s vision for transforming Santa Catalina Island into a premier resort destination, even allowing him to overlook his Chicago Cubs’ spring training from the property. After Ada Wrigley’s death, the estate transitioned through several uses before being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 and eventually converted into the intimate luxury inn that visitors can stay in today.
