Muir Woods

Saves: 175
Check-ins: 16
Named after famed wilderness preservationist John Muir, this ancient redwood forest epitomizes the natural beauty of the northwestern coast. These trees are only to be found in a narrow strip from Monterey to Oregon, partly because of deforestation (boo!) and because they need certain conditions to thrive — that is, loads of fog. Something that southwest Marin County has in abundance all year round.
