Description:

The Nepenthe Restaurant in Big Sur is a popular stop between Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge and Castro Canyon amidst the cliffs of the beautiful coast of Big Sur. The wait time can be 2+ hours as they do not accept reservations. The Nepenthe is famous for their "Ambroisaburger" which is their version of a ground steak sandwich served on a French roll with their favorite ambrosia sauce. The restaurant is spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. You'll get quite fantastic views that stretch down the coast and the Santa Lucia Mountains. Check out the Phoenix at Nepenthe gift shop located just below Nepenthe. Below the Phoenix is Café Kevah featuring handmade jewelry, ceramics, and even instruments for that perfect drum circle. The main building was designed by a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright and hints at the master architect's style.
