Description:

The first place gold was discovered in California. Legend has it that in 1842 a cattle rancher dreamt he was floating in a lake of gold while dozing beneath this oak. On waking, he dug up some wild onions at the base of the tree and, lo and behold, there were gold nuggets clinging to the roots. Eureka!
