Description:
Water has always been a scarce resource in Southern California. Early Spanish settlers attempted to solve the water shortage by building this dam, one of the earliest large-scale irrigation projects in the West. Located inside Mission Trails Regional Park, today the dam is a peaceful spot for bird-watching and a starting point for several hikes, including the historic Father Junipero Serra Trail.
