Old Town San Diego

To visit this quaintly charming part of San Diego is to step back in time when the Spanish first settled in California - this was the first European settlement in what is now the Golden State. With the town's Spanish Mediterranean architecture it is a wonderfully eclectic mixture of the Old World interposed with tourists, college kids, and surfers taking a break. Established in 1769, Old Town has grown from a tiny mission to one of the most fashionable districts in San Diego. The most fun-packed times to visit would be Cinco de Mayo and Día de los Muertos.
