Description:
The Rodney King riots, also known as the 1992 Los Angeles riots, erupted after the acquittal of four LAPD officers involved in the brutal beating of Rodney King, an African American man. Four years later, the band Sublime released the song “April 29th, 1992,” specifically calling out a business in Long Beach called "Ons Junior Market" on the police scanner. The lyrics said, "I don't know if you can, but can you get an order for Ons, that's O-N-S Junior Market, the address is 1934 East Anaheim, all the windows are busted out and it's like a free-for-all in here." This is the location of that now infamous spot in music (and world) history.
