Queen's Necklace Overlook

NOTE: This viewpoint overlooks residential properties in a quiet neighborhood so only take photos from the street and please keep noise to a minimum. No trip to southern California is complete without an excursion to the hidden, peaceful neighborhoods of Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills Estates, and Rancho Palos Verdes. These sought after neighborhoods are nestled between Redondo Beach on the north and San Pedro on the south. Besides the small town feel, spectacular views abound. The wealthiest nook is Palos Verdes Estates where sprawling mansions have the best views of the Queen's Necklace - so called for the shape of the coastline. Head on up a windy road called Via del Monte and pull over to snap selfies. Ample street parking is available but be mindful of the 25 MPM speed limit. Avoid the strip of road on July 4th as people park their cars a good 24 hours in advance to secure views of the fireworks all up and down the coast.
