Description:
Union Pacific's giant snow plow-train operates on the notorious Donner Pass. It was built in the 1920s and originally ran on steam. In the 1950s it was converted to a diesel engine. The powerful circular motion of the plow has broken through a 13-foot snowfall. The basic design of this massive feat of engineering was said to have been invented by a Canadian dentist in 1869! To see the trains of Truckee, call the Truckee Railroad Museum ahead of time.
