San Francisco Zoo
It encompasses about 100 acres and is home to around 250 species of animals. Opened in the 1930s, this zoo's most famous inhabitant was Koko the gorilla who learned American Sign Language. Today, Stephen Colbert, Jr., an American bald eagle named after the renowned comedian, is perhaps the most famous. The zoo is open from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission and parking must be purchased online beforehand.
