Description:

Fred McCrea and his wife, Eleanor, stumbled upon a hidden 168-acre plot on Spring Mountain, which they purchased and named Stony Hill Vineyard. In 1951, driven by their love for French white wines and the favorable conditions of the land, they established the first post-prohibition winery. The inaugural Stony Hill vintage, a Chardonnay reflecting the terroir of Burgundy, was released in 1952. Fred enlisted Mike Chelini as his assistant winemaker, passing on the winemaking legacy until Chelini took over after Fred's death in 1977. For over four decades, Chelini continued McCrea's philosophy, selling primarily to a hand-selected list of buyers. In 2009, Stony Hill expanded its offerings to include red wines made from estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Under new ownership by the Lawrence Family, Stony Hill Vineyard enters a new era, committed to producing world-class wines and preserving the McCrea family's enduring legacy.

Wine list features Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Late Harvest, and Riesling. To check wine availability or book a tasting, please contact the winery.
