Tahquitz Canyon Waterfall

Saves: 91
Check-ins: 21
This seasonal 60-foot waterfall is most spectacular in the winter and early spring. Tahquitz comes from the legend of a powerful Shaman. He is said to steal souls of people who stay past nightfall in the canyon. Earthquakes in the area were attributed to Tahquitz. His legend comes from the ancient Kauisiktum clan, whose drawings and artifacts were found in the vicinity. Unfortunately, much of the petroglyphs have been lost. The land and the visitor center is overseen by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. To get to the center and parking lot, go west on Mesquite Avenue from S. Palm Canyon Dr. Follow it for half-a-mile to reach your destination.

Waterfall at the end of a short hike. You can get in the water, which is very welcoming after a short hot hike.
