The Legend of Tahquitz

This canyon has a long history with the Cahuilla tribe dating back 2,000 years ago. The Agua Caliente legend says that the first shaman Tahquitz was given incredible powers by Mukat the Creator. When he used his powers for evil he was banished to this canyon. Today, it is an ongoing excavation site. There is a visitor's center and a hiking trail leading to a waterfall.
