Description:

In 1878, Frenchman Paul Masson partnered with vintner Charles Lefranc in San Francisco, pioneering grape grafting and producing acclaimed wines. Masson introduced locally grown champagne, becoming a sensation. Despite challenges like the 1906 earthquake and Prohibition, his legacy endured. The winery, later sold in 1936, preserved Masson's name and dedication to quality. The property, adorned with a 12th Century Spanish portal, transformed into a renowned concert venue, hosting iconic performances. Today, it remains a popular event destination, honoring Masson's impact on California's winemaking.
