The Wall Project

After the Berlin Wall was dismantled by the public in 1989 the pieces were taken as souvenirs of a pivotal time in history. The segments of the Berlin Wall have been dispersed throughout the world but the longest continuous piece of the physical and ideological border that divided Berlin in half is here. Artists were commissioned to paint murals on the wall including Thierry Noir, a Berlin-based artist who was the first to paint a picture in 1984 while the wall was still intact.
