Tule Elk State Reserve

Tule elk are found only in California and here you can witness them in their native habitat. For a few extra dollars you can take a safari tour offered on the fourth Saturday of every month except November and December. If you're traveling through the state, the reserve is a convenient stop right off the I-5 between Los Angeles and Modesto. From the I-5 exit Stockdale Hwy and go west. Make a left on Morris Rd. and a short distance ahead you will see the reserve. Hours are daily, 8 to 4:30. (Submitted by Nina R)
