On the corner of an apartment building a chalkboard-style mural of treehuggers (with one that resembles Abe Lincoln) was created by Dave Van Patten. His comic-book style artistry fits in well with the minimalist, modern architecture. The Los Angeles-based artist is known for his contemporary surrealist illustrations, using a variety of mediums both traditional and non-traditional. His work has been displayed on a variety of buildings, including a Starbucks coffeehouse. (Submitted by Joan Nasner)
