Description:
The Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro opened on January 20, 1931 as a lavish Art Deco movie palace built by Warner Bros. and designed by architect B. Marcus Priteca, quickly becoming a cultural centerpiece for the LA Harbor area. Over the decades it hosted films, concerts, and performances, and was saved from possible demolition in the 1990s when the City of Los Angeles purchased it and partnered with the Grand Vision Foundation to restore and operate the historic venue. Today the theater is temporarily closed for major repairs and upgrades, including seismic improvements, accessibility updates, and infrastructure work, with plans to reopen once renovations are complete.
