Jack London, who was aptly nicknamed "the Wolf" built his stone abode and likewise named it "Wolf House." Before he and his wife were able to move in, it was destroyed by a fire. Luckily, enough of the structure remains for us London enthusiasts to visit. The Jack London State Historic Park does charge a small fee for entrance although entrance to some buildings and private tours will cost you more. (Photo by Randy Bouverat)
