The Helen Hunt Falls waterfall located on Cheyenne Creek in Colorado Springs isn't named after the actress but they're named in honor of Helen Maria Hunt Jackson (October 15, 1830 - August 12, 1885), who was a United States poet and writer. She became an activist on behalf of improved treatment of Native Americans by the U.S. government. The falls are popular among the locals and tourists and they become quite crowded during the summer months. Hikers can also travel a short distance up a moderately steep trail above Helen Hunt Falls to reach the Silver Cascade Falls.
