Description:
Located on Highway 6, east of the South Platte River, the Overland Trail commemorates the historic migration of gold seekers and pioneers. Named after the stage route, a branch of the Oregon Trail, it was once the most traveled road in America from 1862 to 1868. Opened in 1936, the museum, designed like early trading forts, has expanded with many local donations over the past 65 years.
