Description:
Two lighthouses have stood at this point and the current one has been standing since 1847. It was finally deactivated in 1877 replaced by the Southwest Ledge Light. According to the history, the lighthouse was restored in 1986 to the tune of almost 100K, most of the money going to cleaning off almost 70 years worth of bat guano. You might get sticker shock from the parking fee (around $30) but according to most visitors, the scenery is worth it.
