Saybrook Breakwater Light

Featured on one of the state's license plates, this caisson lighthouse was constructed in 1886. It's also known as a sparkplug lighthouse, built on a strong barrier which helped the harbor to become prosperous. It's not particularly easy to see up close, positioned behind a multi-million dollar residential compound. Some suggest taking a kayak from another point on the beach further west.
