Description:

Uncas Leap, also known as Indian Leap or Yantic Falls, is a historically significant 1.2-acre site located along the Yantic River in Norwich, acquired by the City of Norwich in 2010. It holds cultural importance for the Mohegan Tribe, dating back to 1643, and marks the site of the Battle of Great Plains between the Mohegan and Narragansett Tribes. The area features a 19th-century mill ruin, a stunning gorge, and a waterfall, and is being developed into a park to honor both the battle and the Mohegan Tribe's heritage.
