Fort Delaware

Saves: 23
Check-ins: 6
Accessible only by ferry, Fort Delaware has an important place in American history. As a harbor defense facility, the fort served as a prison for Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. The stone fort is set on the tiny island of Pea Patch surrounded on all sides by water. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the grassy picnic area as there are no restaurants or concession stands on the island.
