Basilica of the National Shrine

Completed in 1961, this Roman Catholic church is the largest of its denomination in North America. As one of the largest churches in the world it shares the same platform with basilicas and cathedrals in Germany, Spain, and Italy. With Byzantine and Romanesque influences this place of worship is of comparable beauty to its European counterparts - if not nearly as old.
