A short distance from the Lincoln Memorial and a quick walk from the Japanese Pagoda is a memorial dedicated to the 32nd president who is perhaps famous for being in office during World War II. Designed by Lawrence Halprin and sculpted by Robert Graham, the memorial also includes FDR's beloved Scottish terrier, Fala. There was a bit of controversy as the seated figure was not in a wheelchair. Therefore, in 1998 Graham added casters which can only be seen from the back of the statue. Located on the Potomac River, the memorial is an integral part of a DC National Mall. (Submitted by Omar Medina)
