Abandoned Annie Lytle Elementary School

Saves: 61
Check-ins: 20
Built in 1915 it was once called Public School Number Four. Nearby interstate freeways constructed in the 1950s ironically made the school more difficult to get to. Additionally when the kids got there they couldn't hear the teacher over the high-decibel sounds of traffic. Thus it was finally closed in 1960. Since then it has remained unused and abandoned. A fire in the 1990s caused the roof to collapse and plants have started to weave their way through the walls and foundation. The fate of the land is still up in the air but for now it remains a hollowed-out shell of a building where road trip enthusiasts can explore.

The highway is 5-6 feet from the front of the school and it absolutely is deafening!!
