Description:
Built by Mark Honeywell in the 1930s, "lighthouse" is a misnomer for this elegant structure. When it was completed it was lit for a few hours before it was shut down as Honeywell had neglected to obtain the proper permits for his project. Hence, it quickly became a fancy (and expensive) lawn decoration. Boca Chita contains three historical structures, the lighthouse being one of them - all perched on the northernmost island of the Keys. The observation deck is 65 feet above the ground, providing a great view of Biscayne Bay.
