Description:

Once a theme park the Dunlawton Sugar Mill still displays the remnants of the former business. Started in the late '40s the theme park opened with prehistoric beasts fashioned out of chicken wire and concrete. Unfortunately for the owner Jerry Sperber, the public was not as enthused about dinosaurs as he was. The park closed down in 1952 a mere five years later. Now marketed as a lush, tropical garden it seems to attract more visitors as a nature park than as a theme park. It is open every day from 8 AM to 5 PM but call ahead to verify. There is no cost for admission.
