Description:
The historic estate of Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett was built in 1920. Evelyn, the second wife of Bartlett (and ex-wife of Eli Lilly) used the home as her winter residence until her death in 1997. Frederic Bartlett himself designed the estate using local materials and his own ideas without guidance from a professional architect. What resulted was a wonderfully imaginative and unique plantation-style home landscaped with plenty of native Florida plants. Bonnet House is now open for self-guided tours: Tuesday – Friday, 11 AM - 3 PM; Saturday & Sunday, 11 AM - 4 PM. General admission is $20.
