Description:

Cap's Place, recognized as a national landmark, is Broward County, Florida's oldest restaurant, with a history dating back to the 1920s as a casino and rum-running speakeasy. Located on an island off Lighthouse Point and accessible only by Cap's motor launch, it sits between Miami and West Palm Beach on the intracoastal waterway. Established by Cap and Lola Knight, along with Al Hasis, the restaurant began as a collection of wooden shacks on a barge floated from Miami. For over seven decades, the Knight and Hasis families have served top-quality seafood in this unique waterfront setting. Notable patrons have included Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Al Capone, and Mariah Carey. Cap's Place, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, is a must-visit destination in South Florida.
