Fort Dade Ruins

The concrete structures are not pretty but they are interesting to wander through. Made of cement, the ruins are safe enough to walk on or under and there is a spectacular view of Tampa Bay if you stand on top. Once a storage area for weapons and gunpowder, the underground rooms are empty except for the invasive darkness that the daylight cannot break through. There are boat tours taking visitors out to the little island and the park is open every day from 8 a.m. to sundown.
