Description:

The Palace Saloon in Fernandina Beach opened in 1903 and is celebrated as the oldest continuously operating bar in Florida. Originally a haberdashery from the late 1870s, it was transformed into a stylish gathering spot for ship captains, sailors and port visitors during Fernandina’s busy maritime era. The saloon survived Prohibition by selling ice cream, cigars and other goods, and later recovered from a major fire in 1999 while preserving its ornate mahogany bar, mosaic floors and tin ceilings. Although it is known more for drinks than food, visitors often enjoy its signature Pirate’s Punch along with other popular cocktails that have become part of its historic charm.
