Description:
Built in 1890 by Captain Rufus W. Beaujean for Jacob Fox, the Ryckman House is one of the first homes in Melbourne Beach. Garrett E. Ryckman, a major shareholder in the Melbourne Beach Company, acquired it in 1908, and his daughter Ruth later bequeathed it to the town in 1979. The house, constructed of native pine and cypress, originally lacked electricity and running water but became a beloved family home and community landmark.
