Description:
Crystal Beer Parlor began in the early 1900s as the Gerken Family Grocery Store before becoming one of Savannah’s first legal drinking spots after Prohibition ended in 1933 under owner William “Blocko” Manning. The restaurant later closed but was revived in 2009, preserving its vintage charm, historic photos, and neighborhood feel. Today it is known for hearty comfort food like its crystal burger, creamy crab stew, fried shrimp, onion rings, and shrimp and grits. Visitors also rave about its classic Southern desserts such as peach cobbler and fried pound cake.
