Description:

It once went by the name of Evergreen Cemetery and its first decedent was laid to rest in 1846. Its claim to fame is a notable mention in John Berendt's 1994 novel "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" and its subsequent appearance in Clint Eastwood's film adaptation. The beautiful surroundings and the peaceful atmosphere make it a favorite place for families to spend time together and even have a picnic as odd as it may sound. Giant oaks adorned with garlands of Spanish moss, an azalea-lined path, and elegantly tarnished gravestones and monuments lend a sense of romantic mystery. The cemetery is open every day from 8 AM to 5 PM but see the website for guided tour dates and times.
