Legends and lore are an integral part of this untouched coastal region of Georgia. The unsettling faces etched into the trunks of the trees are said to be the manifestation of sailors who lost their lives in the sound. Artist Keith Jennings says he takes his inspiration from these spirits, carving faces of what he believes are the souls of the trees. Whatever you might believe, the end result is incredible.
